Better, Healthier Futures - Climate and Health Roundtable

View Event Recording Here

This online Roundtable includes senior leaders from health and medical organisations, professional and industrial associations, health care service providers, clinicians, academics and researchers, as well as policymakers and business leaders.

Hosted by Better Futures Australia Health Sector Working Group which includes the Climate and Health Alliance, Doctors for the Environment Australia, Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association, and NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association.

The Roundtable provided an opportunity to showcase the leadership and ambition of the health sector in taking climate action.

Through the Roundtable we also aimed to develop a shared advocacy agenda for the health sector ahead of international climate negotiations (UNFCCC 26th Conference of the Parties - COP26) in November 2021 and prior to the next federal election. One outcome informed by Roundtable discussions will include a letter to Prime Minister Scott Morrison with key asks of the federal government related to climate action. This effort aims to encourage the federal government to prioritise human health in the context of climate change, and to make stronger commitments to climate action on the international stage.
