Brynn O'Brien

CEO of the Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility

July 2022

Brynn is the CEO of the Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility. We asked her what a better future looks like for Australians.

Australia is an incredible country with so much potential – we cannot afford to miss the multitude of opportunities we have before us. Opportunities for justice. Opportunities for a safe planet."

ACCR [the Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility], as a shareholder in large Australian listed companies, deploys the tools of shareholders, corporations law and the model of responsible investment to try to change Australian companies for the better. A better world is possible, a net-zero emissions world is possible. The way we want institutional capital to shift is new, but we know it works”.

Brynn wakes up every day with a passion to move Australia’s economy from one built on extractive capitalism, to shareholder capitalism – a move she believes will result in a more just and safe place for all.

Our $3 trillion superannuation industry in Australia can be a huge force for good when institutional investors put people and planet outcomes at the centre of all investment strategies. At ACCR we are harnessing the power of that huge capital base to shift to a model of stakeholder capitalism."
