Better Futures Australia, in collaboration with Ironbark Sustainability and ICLEI Oceania are proud to announce an updated version of the Australian Local Government Climate Review 2024.
The 2024 Australian Local Government Climate Review, formally launched at the Better Futures Forum 2024 on 10th September in Canberra, showcases the commitments and ambitions of the local government sector. It shares recommendations to improve multi-level governance, resourcing and opportunities.
Climate Leaders Dinner
The Climate Leaders Dinner, Tuesday September 10th, on the opening night of the Forum, gathered leaders from local government, industry, and the community, including:
- Kristy McBain, Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories
- Andrew Barr, ACT Chief Minister
- Anna Reynolds, Lord Mayor of Hobart
- Imogen Jubb, Ironbark Sustainability
- Linda Scott, President of ALGA
- Michelle Isles, CEO CAHA
Discussions centred on the importance of multi-level governance and multi-sectoral collaboration in achieving Australia's climate goals. Attendees supported a collective call for updated climate targets through Mission 2025, and a collective call for national policies that enable us to work together in delivering decisive action to secure a safe climate.
