Sandy Verschoor

Lord Mayor, City of Adelaide

Sandy was elected Lord Mayor in 2018 having served as a councillor, deputy lord mayor and general manager for the City of Adelaide where she delivered several multi-million dollar projects including the City Library and spearheaded the City Activation program.

Prior to that Sandy worked for more than 20 years in senior leadership roles largely focused on Australia’s Arts and Culture scene.  She is a successful activation and cultural strategist and has fostered, promoted and developed some of Adelaide’s rich cultural experiences including the Adelaide Festival, Australian International Documentary Conference, WOMADelaide, Adelaide Film Festival and the Adelaide Fringe, and the renowned Windmill Theatre Company.

Sandy is a Churchill Fellow, and represents The City of Adelaide on several boards: the Capital City Committee, the Premier’s Climate Change Council, Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Park lands Authority and Adelaide Festival Centre Trust. 

Sandy is proud South Australian and passionate about Adelaide’s ongoing journey to become a magnet city.
