Peter Shelley is the Sustainability Manager for Energy and Carbon at Australia Post, a role he has performed since the start of 2013. His experience in carbon management spans fifteen years, during which he has been responsible for managing a diverse range of projects at Australia Post. His experience as Sustainability Manager has included managing the annual CDP Project; the company’s carbon performance (including the development of science based targets, and obtaining certification via Climate Active); the company’s participation in the Melbourne Renewable Energy Project; working with the International Postal Corporation; and setting up Australia Post up as a member of the Emissions Reduction Fund, from which the Australia Post receives revenue for implemented projects.
Since 2012, Peter has been involved in the development of the community energy movement, such as through his role as board member for Moreland Community Solar. As board member, Peter managed the development of a series of legal templates to use when setting up a power purchase with a landlord or a tenant for on-site solar, funded through a grant from the New Energy Jobs Fund in Victoria.
Peter is married to Adele with two kids, Declan, aged eight, and Amelie, thirteen.
