Any economy must take into account the ecosystem in which it operates, so let’s wake up and pour our efforts, all of them, into renewables, kelp beds, solar, wind, local communities powering themselves. We can do this, and we know we can do it, because it’s being done.

“We are in a time, that if we are talking about a better future, we are talking about a change of mindset. We are talking about abundance and the fact there is abundance all around us. The current mindset seems to centre around lack, which spurs a kind of grabbing, like everything is finite and needs to be hoarded, but there’s no such thing if you allow nature to regenerate itself. What we need out of this pause is to align with the abundant mindset in the sense of quickly transitioning to renewables and sustainability practices across all industries – business, farming, building, education and creative industries”.

Damian Walshe-Howling is best known for his gripping performances both on screen and stage, and is passionately lending his voice and profile to the Better Futures Australia initiative, to encourage a future in Australia where the people are heard. Not heard only because they’re marching and rallying, but because they are voting with their investments, their spending, their day-to-day consumer choices, and leading our government to where the people stand on climate action.

“This is not about fighting for something in the future. It is about how we sustain, grow, live and work towards something that is flowering in this moment now. Any economy must take into account the ecosystem in which it operates, so let’s wake up and pour our efforts, all of them, into renewables, kelp beds, solar, wind, local communities powering themselves. We can do this, and we know we can do it, because it’s being done”.

Damian Walshe-Howling is an Australian actor, well known for his role as Andrew "Benji" Veniamin in the underworld drama, Underbelly.
